"MOTU Missing Areas!" - posted by Sycada on Friday, 16th February 2001.

Missing levels?!? Don't get too excited. I refer to a collection of areas that were removed during the making of MotU and as such were never finished. These levels, along with a document about them are available at the MotU download page. They have been posted for those who are interested in seeing what the unfinished levels were like and are curiousities only. Keep in mind that they are horribly unfinished e.g: Sections missing, no items or monsters, little to no architectural detail, no proper lighting etc, and are not supported in any way. The download is less than 700KB too :)
I hope those of you who are interested enjoy them.

"MOTU V1.1 Released!" - posted by Sycada on Sunday, 28th January 2001.

Maw of the Umbra: Abode of Golgotha 2 V1.1 has just been released. You can get it at the downloads page.
The new version has the skins that were supposed to be in MOTU in the first place in it along with alterations in the main game aswell. It's about 31.6 meg big which I know is quite a bit bigger than v1.0. Because of this, I feel an explanation is in order. The reason MOTU v1.1 is so much bigger is because Heretic II reads the cutscene skins in different directories depending on the cutscene model used. As a result I had to place multiple copies of the skins in different directories in order to get them to work properly. I apologise for any inconvienience this may cause but it was the only way I could do it.
Thanks for all your e-mails. The response I've had to the add-ons so far has been overwhelmingly positive even to the extent where a programmer for a software company e-mailed me to say he liked the AOG saga (MOTU in particular) more than Heretic II's original campaign! Talk about positive feedback!
Also some of the pages have been updated slightly on the site. Anyway, enjoy v1.1 :)

"AOG Breaks 1000!" - posted by Sycada on Saturday, 20th January 2001.

The Abode of Golgotha v1.5 has broken 1000 downloads from this site! Considering this is a mod for Heretic II, a game that not a lot of people own I thought it was worth a mention ; P
V1.1 of MOTU is going well now that my computer has been fixed. I've just finished making the light fixtures in the Inn look more realistic. Oh and among other things I'm sure you guys will be pleased to learn that the sewer jumps are now more forgiving than the suicidal ones in v1.0. Till next time.

"Faq updated." - posted by Sycada on Sunday, 14th January 2001.

The FAQ page has been updated.
V1.1 of MOTU is currently being done. It will primarily feature the new skins but will also have a few bug fixes and adjustments to make the game flow more smoothly. These adjustments are coming from suggestions made by you guys so if there is something you want to see (within reason) in v1.1 then Mail me.

"New mirrors + more!" - posted by Sycada on Tuesday, 9th January 2001.

Two new FTP mirrors have been added. One for Maw of the Umbra and another for Abode of Golgotha. Thanks to Grim of The Four Winds.
MOTU has been downloaded over 400 times so far since release and the interest level in AOG1 has suddenly surged aswell. Thanks to everyone who has downloaded either of them and I hope you are enjoying them.
Lastly, I have just been told how to put the new skins DraX did into MOTU. (Thanks Demolisher). I will put these new skins in and update MOTU to v1.1 as soon as I can.

"MOTU Released!" - posted by Sycada on Sunday, 7th January 2001.

IT'S OUT!!!!!!!
Maw of the Umbra: Abode of Golgotha 2 is now available for download. Go to the MOTU downloads page to get it. It's quite big (21.4 meg zipped) but myself and all who've played it think it's worth the download. It's taken quite a lot of work and I hope it was worth it. You guys can be the judge of that though.

UPDATE: Just added a high speed mirror for Maw of the Umbra for all you dial up users thanks to Ragman of Extreme Players.

"MOTU Testing Begins!" - posted by Sycada on Thursday, 21st December 2000.

Incredible but true! Maw Of The Umbra: Abode Of Golgotha 2 has officially entered the testing phase! I managed to finish it off but as a result a couple of sacrifices had to be made. These being that the rendered ending sequences are not featured in this version, (version 1.0) instead the endings are in-game cutscenes and the skins used are some of Heretic II's multiplayer skins instead of the ones that DraX did so the characters look a bit different. Don't fret however, version 1.0 of MOTU is still a finished version and not a beta.
When DraX gets these missing elements done then a new 'complete' version will be provided as well as an upgrade patch which will update version 1 to the complete incarnation.
A release date for version 1.0 of Maw Of The Umbra will be announced in the next few days so keep 'em peeled!

"A Painful Delay" - posted by Sycada on Monday, 18th December 2000.

It's a real pain I know but DraX's system is not fixed yet and I am powerless to do anything to finish off Maw of the Umbra until he gets those skins implemented. If anyone would know how to just plonk the skins onto a cutscene model then please let me know! It's very irritating not being able to. The whole of MOTU is finished except for the skin implementation and rendered endings. If I can possibly find a way to put some temporary skins on at least then I'll try to release a version of Maw of the Umbra soon because it's taking too long and your overwhelming patience can only be stretched so far. I'll keep you informed.

Thankyou all for your fabulous e-mail responses. Keep 'em coming. I love to get feedback on my work and so far you all seem pretty happy with it.

"Netscape Compatible!" - posted by maXX09 on Thursday, 23rd November 2000.

I've now altered the HTML in all the pages that Netscape 4.7 was having a problem with. It works, I just tested the whole site. If anyone has further problems with the page please contact me.

"DraX's Disaster " - posted by Sycada on Wednesday, 22nd November 2000.
DraX informed me of some bad news yesterday. His computer has ceased to function. What does this mean? Well since he was doing the skin insertion into MOTU and the ending cutscenes for it I'm afraid that MOTU is going to suffer a small setback. Luckily all the material was backed up so he hasn't lost anything <phew>. I'll let you all know when he's back in business again.
"Netscape Problems" - posted by maXX09 on Tuesday, 21th November 2000.
We've been notifed that some versions of Netscape (4.7) cannot display some pages of the site (the download page being the most important). As a temporary measure, you can download AOG 1.5 right here.
"AOG Re-Release" - posted by Sycada on Sunday, 19th November 2000.
Hello Everyone. I'm sorry this page has been absent for so long but The Abode of Golgotha Saga is back at last. How do you like the new look? Pretty spiffy eh? To celebrate the return, the original Abode of Golgotha has been Re-released. What does this mean? Primarily that the lighting has been re-done and looks much better now. Other changes are minor because I want the real work going into it's sequel but I did make the final boss battle easier along with some other minor alterations. Go and get it at the downloads page now!

Before you ask, No, Maw of the Umbra is not out yet. It undergoes final additions as you read this. Quite a few things have been put into it that were not intended. Those of you who have followed the project for a while now will remember that a section of MOTU was to be a split pathway which would take you to one level or another depending on what you did and it was removed due to big problems getting the alternate stage to function. Well I'm pleased to say that I fixed it and the missing level has been re-inserted into MOTU so there is a split decision after all :) On top of that, DraX being the hard working guy that he is has done some rendered cutscenes for the endings. Very cool. Check back in the near future for word on the release date for Maw of the Umbra: Abode of Golgotha 2, seriously this time :).
