FAKK 2 Review Turned Heretic II Review Posted by Demolisher on Thursday, August 24, 2000
I found this funny update on Stomped. Here's part of what Firing Squad had to say in their unfavorable F.A.K.K. 2 review:. . . As far as third person action games go, FAKK 2 doesn't really come close to the better ones, like Heretic 2.

Grinbots v0.6b Released! Posted by wmull on Friday, August 11, 2000
As reported over on our sister site, Raven-Games.com, the Grinbots v0.6b (that's right, Bots for Heretic II, if you didn't already know!) is ready for download! Here's the list of changes, straight from Grin herself: Lots of tweaking for this release. Version 0.4 concentrated on the bots blade abilities, so I decided that their DM skills needed some attention for this release. - Improved the bots jumping abilities. - Lots of changes to the way the bots select appropriate weapons. - The bots use the PBow a lot more intelligently now. - The bots will aim ahead when using slow moving projectiles. - The bots navigate better and get stuck less often (I think). - The bots will dish out some smack talk (pretty basic at the moment). - Increased the maximum number of bots to 16 (only recommended for fast systems). - Changed the way the bots are initialised for dedicated servers. - The bots will remove themselves from a dedicated server to make room for humans. - The bots will ignore a player in God-Mode, so you can watch them at work.
Jake Simpson Interview Posted by Demolisher on Thursday, August 10, 2000
Stomped has an interview with Raven programmer Jake Simpson in which he discusses the future of gaming and Raven's popular titles, including Heretic II. Here is a preview:Stomped: Obviously, you must be happy about the reactions that both of your games have received. Was that a boost for Raven?. I mean, Heretic II was critically acclaimed but didn't sell very well . . . .
Simpson: Actually, I will just correct you there. Heretic II did a awful lot better than a lot of people thought. We did an awful lot more in OEM than what was traditionally believed that we have done. Heretic II made money, which not a lot of people know, so I thought I would just point that out.

MS: There've been so many good levels over the years that it's hard to pick just one. I'm really partial to levels like Bluff Eversmoking from Unreal, the Canyon level from Heretic II, and the central monestery hub level from Hexen. Be sure to check out the rest here.
